An avid mountain lover, adventure seeker and wanderer, Mohit made his living by working at sea as a Marine Engineer. However, mountains, hidden waterfalls, being at new places and having new experiences have always excited him much more than the insides of a ship’s engine room.
An army brat, he constantly moved to different parts of the country and a lot of his formative years were spent in places like Himachal, Kashmir and Ladakh. Coming to Spiti and starting his journey with NOMADIC TRAILS – INDIA was like homecoming for him.
Well-travelled, he’s been to parts of all the six continents apart from Antarctica, from being inside the largest cave, Han Soon Dong, in Vietnam to trekking in Nepal. He has spent time exploring Costa Rica, road tripping in Kenya and cycling unsupported over 1,200 km to Nubra from Delhi, to name a few. Mohit constantly pushes his boundaries.
While his sense of humour might be questionable (he, however, believes he’s got great potential), he has many stories to tell, ensuring there isn’t a dull moment when he is around.
Kiran Kallur | Partner
Kiran is our Lead photographer and visual content director. Not often do we find people who are equally passionate (and skilled) about the outdoors and the nuances of visual storytelling. Kiran’s repertoire boasts of both Basic and Advanced mountaineering certifications, and like others in our team, he is a NOLS certified Wilderness First Responder as well.
His passion to document life detail and chase elusive experiences led him to spend a better part of the winter of 2018-19, capturing the life and spirit of snow-clad Spiti, its people and rare Himalayan wildlife. Yes! He also met the Himalayan Grey Ghost. A sight few witness. There isn’t a better hand to lead you on a photo tour of the region.
Nikhil Bhandari | Partner Operations
A bundle of energy, this Gharwali lad from Hyderabad realised that computer engineering is not his thing but mountains are. A stand out during his mountaineering certification, he quickly caught our attention. Not only is he outstanding on the trails because of his climbing prowess, his exuberance ensures fun and laughter whenever he is around. Early mornings might still be a work for him, but we are happy to have him all the same.
He holds certifications in both Basic and Advanced Mountaineering Courses in addition to the Wilderness First Responderfrom NOLS
Shruti Dua | Content Head
A part of Nomadic Trails – India since its very idea came into existence, Shruti has been the much needed support that was required to set things up. With over a decade of experience in news and print media for the likes of Indian Express and Asian Age and being a passionate traveller, Shruti was the perfect person to have onboard for this venture. She is constantly planning her next get away or getting intrigued by places and ideas unknown to her. As her work with us needs her to be in better connected areas, she doesn’t get to spend as much time in the remote Himalayan regions as she’d like to, but she’s the one who translates our adventures into stories that can be passed on and enjoyed. Most importantly, our team in the field wouldn’t be able to do what we do without the support that she provides us with. You’ll always find Mohit happily introducing her as the co-founder of this venture.
Tenzing Chotup | Local Partner & Guide
Tenzing is the older, wiser and more experienced one in our team. Hailing from Chicham village in Spiti, he has been guiding treks and been a part of climbing expeditions in Spiti and Ladakh regions for 13 years. Never short of stories or things talk about, Tenzing and Mohit got together to explore the unused Takling La trail among others. One thing led to another which finally made him a part of our family, working exclusively as a local guide for Nomadic Trails – India. We love him and so do the clients. What remains a mystery though is the elixir that gives him the endless energy and stamina.
